I HEART NJ GAS STATIONS

I filled up my gas tank right before I got into the Lincoln Tunnel to go to Boston. I really didn't want to get out of the car in the COLD, pump my own gas, and pay MORE for the lack of service in NY, CT or MA. I do know how to pump my own gas. I travel and rent cars all the time, but I have to admit that I am no pro. I have more than once asked other people to help me with either opening the gas tank thingamajig or figuring out how to get the gas pump to work. No shame. I think every state should require full service.

So, I made it to Boston and was on my way down when the orange gas light turned on, and I started to panic. I tapped the buttons on Garmina (my GPS - see 11.13.07 post) to figure out how many miles I had left to go to get to Jersey. 23 miles. Some sources say not to drive more than 10-20 miles on local roads, but others say you can go 40-60 miles on the highway with the light on. From experience, I knew I could do at least 20 miles. So, with my shoulders a little tense for the rest of the way, glancing at my GPS and my dashboard every 2 seconds, I made it to Jersey. It was kind of like having to go to the bathroom but holding it so you can avoid going to a dirty public bathroom and go at home. I crossed the bridge and found the nearest gas station on Garmina. I was happy and relieved to see the gas station attendant come my way to pump my gas. ;)
