Funny how getting upgraded to First class puts you next to people who live a different lifestyle. Most of the time, I'm on business travel, and I'm next to men in suits.... sometimes women. This time on vacation, I noticed:
Seat 2E: Man in his 50s, pastel polo, shorts, driving shoes, glasses, blackberry in hand. Reading The New York Times AND the Wall Street Journal AND The East Hampton Star…. Every page. Passes the paper to his wife, who is also reading the paper. Staying at a fort that they’ve rented – a place they go down to year after year. Meeting the rest of the family that is already down there.
Seat 2F: Me. Got upgraded to first class. Paid a little over $300 for my flight. Staying at a hotel on points. Us Weekly and Eat Pray Love in bag. Played some Sudoku. Not interested in CNN playing on my screen. Would rather blog in 9 pt font, so he can’t read what I’m typing.
