7 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD GET A SMART PHONE (ESPECIALLY IF YOU TRAVEL/COMMUTE/VACATION/DRIVE)

1. Easy Check-in: You get an email from your airline 24 hours before your flight, and you can check in Mobile boarding pass: Just scan that little QR code from your phone and look cool! You scan it twice - once at security and once at the gate. Look like a pro traveler.

2. Maps: Maps on your wireless phone is much more useful than even your laptop. GPS enabled search is awesome. Driving directions, navigation, voice search, street view, current location.... and you can even give your cab driver directions using your phone.

3. Wireless Anywhere: Even when you're roaming, I pick up wireless everywhere. Especially useful when you are bored, or need to know the weather, or need to check on your flight status. When I went out of the country, I turned off data roaming so I wouldn't incur so many extra charges, but used the device as a phone and picked up free wireless wherever I could (like the hotel lobby).

4. Tether wireless from your phone: That's what I'm doing now! I created a private network just for me on my Android device and created a wireless hotspot for my laptop! Sometimes the connection is better than my Sprint Wireless card.

5. Apps: Trip-It: It's an app you must have if you travel a lot. It organizes your itinerary! PDF Document scanner: Travel for business and have to keep track of your receipts? It's hard to travel with a scanner, but your phone can scan your receipts for you! Yelp App is good too!

6. Google Goggles: Try it if you don't know the name of a painting or a building while vacationing in a new city. Translate a menu in French, Italian, German, Spanish.

7. Facebook App: Keeps me entertained, and I can let my friends know where I am and what I'm up to. I can share photos right away! I'm usually more active on FB when I'm on my phone than when I'm on my computer. I have some gripes with FB (privacy, and functionality), but I still use it a lot from my phone. Thanks to people who are frequent updaters, I have a lot to look at during my commute and travel.
