ORLANDO THEME PARKS

I hadn’t been to Orlando theme parks in ages, but work travel has taken me there. The theme parks are something to visit after conference hours with your teammates. I was shocked initially at the price of admission. Something like $72 per person!!! I went to Magic Kingdom and went on not a single roller coaster but enjoyed the classic rides, like Dumbo, Teacup and my favorite, Small World . Small world hasn’t changed a bit! If you’ve been to Tomorrowland recently, it really needs an update. It looks like what people thought the future would look like, from the 1970s perspective.

I went to MGM another time, and the conference rented out the entire theme park for the night and kept a few rides open. It was weird standing in line with ALL adults. I went on the Aerosmith Rockin’ Rollercoaster twice and the Tower of Terror twice – both great rides.

Universal Studios is just as expensive as Disney. They have a nice city walk area, but I didn’t enjoy the theme parks so much. I went before Halloween and they had hired actors to dress up in costume and scare people. Teenagers everywhere! And people were drinking alcohol from syringes. That’s another thing that surprised me – the amount of alcohol being served at all of these theme parks.

I never really enjoyed theme parks as much as others, and I don’t think that’s going to change. But it’s fun to go out with coworkers during these conferences/events. Makes it worth the $70+.
