$81
I’ve become a fan of the train recently. I take the train into work and have a solid 30 minutes online in the morning to check email before I get into work. I didn’t feel overwhelmed or guilty trying to get out of work by 5 to get to Boston either. I worked 5 hours on the train! Connected 90% of the time. It costs $78 dollars on Amtrak to go to Boston on a weekday. Not bad. But then on a weekend, the price goes up to $96 dollars. I really wanted to take the train, but my sister convinced me to take the $15 special Greyhound bus. Her reasoning – I shopped a lot that weekend. $81 could buy me two pairs of shoes! So, I ended up taking the $15 Greyhound bus, sitting next to a guy who was at least 6’5” (had to sit sideways with his legs in the aisle). The bus had some mechanical problems and stopped for about 20 minutes in the middle. Since there were no power outlets, I could only watch half of the Departed because my laptop battery died (which wouldn't have happend on Amtrak because they have electrical outlets). I was very sulky on the bus, but at least I saved $81, right?
