SHOULD YOU PACK SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER/SOAP?

With the "3.4oz bottles or smaller in a quart-sized ziploc bag" rule, you need to really think about what you're going to take on a carry-on onto a plane. I pack my toothpaste, face lotion, eye cream, contact lens solution, foaming face wash and shaving cream first. The bag is already pretty full. Then, whether I put in shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel really depends on what hotel I'm going to.

Here is what you're likely to get at the following hotels (from my memory):

- Four Seasons Hotel: L'Occitane shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, face soap, body soap, shower gel
- Ritz Carlton: Bulgari shampoo, conditioner, soap, mouth wash
- W Hotels: Bliss shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, face wash, soap, tube of body lotion
- Morgans Hotels (Boutique hotels including Morgans, Royalton, Clift, etc): Aqua shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, face soap, body soap
- Marriott: Neutrogena shampoo, conditioner, soap
- Klimpton/Joie and some other boutique hotels: Aveda shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, face soap
- Sheraton: Pantene shampoo and conditioner, Vaseline Intensive Care lotion, soap
- Hyatt Hotels: Portico shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, and
- Westin: Westin-brand Heavenly shampoo, conditioner, mouth wash, shower gel
*update*
- Hilton: (From an unlikely source) Crabtree & Evelyn
- Hilton Garden Inn - (Just checked in) Neutrogena

(Correct me if I got any of that wrong. I've stayed at Loews and Intercontinental Hotels recently, but I don't remember their amenity brands. I guess it wasn't impressionable.)

I will always take home my amenities from the Four Seasons (love the fresh soap smell of L'Occitane), the Ritz Carlton (Bulgari makes you smell like you put on perfume when you haven't - great unisex fragrance), W hotels (Bliss - love how they give you face wash! and their lotion is nice), and Aveda is a great product with a soft light natural fragrance. This way, you can be prepared for a trip to a Westin or Hilton hotel.

ALWAYS pack shampoo and conditioner for Westin and Hilton Hotels! I am not into the hotel-branded stuff. I love the Starwood Preferred Guest program and Westin Heavenly Beds, but they need to rethink their amenities. The Heavenly shampoo smells like an old man's cologne.

Hope you find this helpful!
